Your Non-Negotiables List

I came across this beautiful post on MindBodyGreen about Non-Negotiables.

As I'm transitioning back into full time teaching (which means lots of travel to and fro, and lots of irregular hours) it's really important for me to create my own list.

It was a really interesting task to complete - tell me, friends, what is on your list of Non-Negotiables?

xo

Do you ever feel like you compromise yourself? Are your happiness and success secondary? Check out the ten things in your life that need to be non-negotiable.

1. Your physical, mental, and emotional well-being

The fact is that your well-being is the foundation of your success. When your physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs are met, you will thrive.

2. A healthy relationship with yourself

When you become your own best friend, you no longer need the approval of everyone around you. Because at the end of the day when you can say “I love you, and I honor you, and I respect you” to YOU, then you can do, be, and have anything that you want.

3. The way that you speak to yourself

Your life is a reflection of the conversation that you are having with yourself. Transform the conversation you are having with yourself, transform your life. Period.

4. A clean and uncluttered living space

Your home, office, and car speaks volumes. Clutter is negative energy and will stop the flow of abundance into your life. Regardless of how big or small, you deserve to enter into a space that fills you up and gives you peace of mind.

5. Keeping your word to yourself and others

The highest level of integrity is achieved when you keep your word to yourself and to others. Your word is all that you have, it is what defines your credibility, or lack thereof.

6. Associating with positive people

My dad used to say me when I was 12  years old, “Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.” The company that you keep has a direct affect on how what you think and what you do. Remember that your space is sacred and who you allow into your space is crucial to your happiness and success.

7. Your values

What matters the most to you? Love, joy, compassion, relationships? When you are clear on what you value and you live your life according to those values you are...unshakeable.

8. Living debt-free

Having debt is like walking around with a ton of bricks on your shoulders. Take a look at what you are spending your money on. Are you living from paycheck to paycheck? Are your purchases needs or wants? Learning to be financially responsible to is one of the biggest gifts you can give to yourself.

9. Having fun

As children fun was non-negotiable. As children we could make anything fun!!! Often times we think we need to accomplish a huge goal to have fun. But having fun is as important, if not more than working hard (or smart)

10. Giving yourself permission to dream big and DO big

The best things in life are free....starting with your imagination. Give yourself the permission to envision a life so wild and fabulous that even you get goosebumps thinking about it. The only thing in between your dream and reality is your commitment to take action.

Sleepwalking?

Rory Freedman shares, "If you look around, you may notice that many among us in the human race are sleepwalking through life.  You may be tempted to ask, 'How did this happen? How long has it been going on for? How did I get here?'  Who cares! Life is short! Don't waste another second in no man's land!"

Friends, I'm currently sleepwalking through a great many of my days: and I'm determined to wake up. The past month I've made some huge changes in my life, swapping full time work for consulting and teaching, and it's taken a few different twists and turns that I can't say I've expected. BUT I get a giggle when I realise how much things flow when you step out of the way - the Universe, sheesh!

For example, a biz opportunity I was relying on (gotta pay rent!) fell through and the very next day I was offered another gig, that paid more, that suited better, that was more than I could dream of :)

I'm currently studying Holistic Nutrition, and am also about to begin a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy). Over 12 years since I last studied full time, I'm back. And scared. But it's time.  No more sleepwalking!  One of the best things I've always known but recently am getting shown more & more, is that to be a good health coach, nutritionist, partner, mother, teacher, sibling, bus driver - whatever... - is that more than the words we speak, people respond to how we live.

In the same gorgeous book, Kris Carr says, "Health is more than the absence of disease. It's the presence of vitality." And despite the years of naturopath visits I've indulged in, my diet is - let's be honest, pretty crap right now.

After almost 2 years to the month that I dived into the struggle with adrenal fatigue, I wouldn't say it's a daily battle anymore. When I undertook the Crazy Sexy Diet at the beginning of this year, I nipped it in the bud, I found some energy. But a month after the cleanse, the old habits kicked back in - the sugar addiction was still there. And let me tell you, when my diet is poo poo, the depression is triple poo poo.

So I'm going to recommit to living healthy again - in body, mind & spirit.

I just wrapped up the 21 Days of Nourishing ecourse which was PHENOMENAL. What a community! But I was so busy running it, that I didn't get to actually enjoy it! So I'm taking myself on 21 gorgeous, nourishing days right now. I'll be updating as I go :)

Mind, Body & Spirit = looking forward to an overhaul! xo

Need some Nourishing?

I can't quite believe that we've got just one more day of the 21 Days of Nourishing ecourse! It's been a wild ride, and I'm totally going to miss setting & practicing the hOMework each day. The little reminders to my inbox have completely changed my start to the morning.

The people (from all over the world!) who've joined in have made me appreciate the special ties of sangha, and I'm forever blessed I've gotten to cross paths with them :)

I wanted to share with you the post from Day 1, to show you a little of what we've been enjoying :)

Love & nourishing to you xo

Day 1: Ingredients of Joy & Meaning

"Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose no regreat. Appreciate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is!" - Mary Anne Radmacher

We've been longtime fans of the inspirational Brene Brown here at TwentyOne Days. Her books speak to the heart, crack open our defences and make us realise that our lives - just as they are (messy, broken, shame filled, bright, tidy, or hectic) - are worth celebrating.

One of the gorgeous takeaways Brene shares in The Gifts of Imperfection is the idea of creating our own list, a reminder of what nourishes and feeds us, our own personal ingredients of JOY and MEANING.

In a moment of bright inspiration, Stella pulled together her list - and it sits atop her desk on a pinboard for a daily reminder to LIVE BIG!

Now it's over to you...

hOMework

Meditation makes your brain stronger, your immunity better, and heck, it even improves sex. So we’re going to be doing a fair bit of it during the upcoming 21 days. So let’s start now – yep, right now. Set your alarm clock/mobile phone/microwave time for 2 minutes and sit. It’s true, you don’t need fancy cushions, blacked out rooms or hours of preparation. Just 2 minutes. (Already meditate? Fabulous, you get to do 5 minutes for this task).

*Begin to visualize how JOY and MEANING show up in your life. How it looks in your world when you are living from a place of worthiness. What gives you juju and spark?

It doesn’t matter if your mind gets distracted, it doesn’t matter if you keep peeking out at the clock to see how long you’ve got to go. It doesn’t matter if your mind is creating endless scenarios of how joy shows up in your world. Just sit for 2 minutes. Breathe. Repeat. (We’re going to dive deeper into meditation soon; for today – just begin. Start where you are)

*Ding Ding Ding* Time's up!

Now let’s list them.  What are the 6-8 ingredients, the must-haves for joy and meaning in your life? They could have jumped up at your through the meditation, or maybe you knew them already. It’s all good.

Don't just think about these things either, but get out the coloured textas, the magazines, the paper and pens, and write, draw and create YOUR own recipe for Joy and Meaning. Then stick it somewhere you're going to see it daily – on your wall, on your fridge, in your diary etc. (We’ll be referring to this list over the next 21 days)

Extra credit:

Lists are grand and all, but don't let them become just more tallies of unfinished tasks. LIVE BY IT! Once a week over the next 21 days, cross off at least one yummy, nourishing ingredient a week as you actually put it into your life.

Need more inspiration? Connect with others at the official Facebook page (closed group), share your hOMework and see what makes others tick.

Much love,

Jacqui & Stella xo

Monday Manifesto

I've launched my debut e-course and to tell you the truth, I'm getting completely overwhelmed in a fantastic-amazing-inspiring way. I am BLOWN AWAY by the love people are showing as we work through our days on how to nourish. I'm astonished by the hungdr with with participants are lapping up the quotes, stories, hOMework, community boards.... again, in a fabulous sparkly way!

People are calling out for connection, nourishment and love. And I am so happy happy happy to be able, in some small way, to bring some like-minded damn awesome people together to seek this out and fill our lives with it.

I've shared here, plenty of times, that I love doing courses and learning, and often have a wee bit of self-doubt as to whether I'm really ready to launch a biz, or run a course or what not. This week, I'm learning that not only am I ready, but I am growing even more by doing this.

Be where you are, my friends, because when you completely own where you're at, it's pretty special :) You may even surprise yourself!
